About

Eli Pippenger is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) providing individual therapy to teens and adults across Maryland and Virginia. With clinical experience supporting teenagers in intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs, Eli is especially comfortable working with clients who feel overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, misunderstood, or unsure how to move forward.

Eli works with clients ages 12 and older navigating anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, chronic stress, low self-esteem, emotional dysregulation, school and college difficulties, relationship concerns, and major life transitions. Whether you are searching for a teen therapist in Maryland, a male therapist in Virginia, or telehealth counseling for anxiety and depression, Eli provides evidence-based, client-centered care designed to meet you where you are.

With teens and young adults, Eli has particular experience helping clients work through self-critical thinking, avoidance, family conflict, social anxiety, and identity development, with a focus on putting coping skills to use in the moments that matter most. As a male therapist, Eli also understands that many men were never given the space to talk about what they are carrying. He offers a direct, down-to-earth environment where men can work on stress, anger, relationships, self-worth, and past experiences without judgment or pressure.

Approach and Training

Eli’s style is collaborative, personable, and nonjudgmental. He knows that many clients, whether a hesitant teenager or an adult trying therapy for the first time, come in feeling guarded or unsure it will help. Rather than forcing change, Eli focuses first on building a trusting relationship and identifying goals that feel personally meaningful.

His approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness-based interventions, grounded in strengths-based, trauma-informed care. Sessions focus on understanding patterns, challenging unhelpful thoughts, strengthening emotional regulation and communication, and building practical coping strategies clients can use long after sessions end.

Who Eli Works With

Eli sees teens (ages 12 and older) and adults seeking support for:

  • Anxiety, depression, and chronic stress
  • Trauma-related symptoms and difficult life experiences
  • Men’s mental health, including stress, anger, relationships, and self-worth
  • School and college stress, perfectionism, and self-critical thinking
  • Family conflict, social anxiety, and relationship concerns
  • Emotional dysregulation and major life transitions

He is a particularly good fit for clients who have struggled to connect with previous therapists or who are unsure about starting therapy at all.

A Space to Feel Understood

Eli believes therapy should be a place where you feel respected, understood, and involved in your own care. His goal is to help you make sense of what you are experiencing, recognize the strengths you already have, and build the confidence and skills to create change that lasts.
